Another very belated response, on an unusually quiet, extremely hot Saturday afternoon here at home! With you on the Brittany beach in the 1970s, and I believe we even had/have the same pétanque set! My attempted recreation was taking my kids to the hotel we used to stay at in Perthshire every year, with a whole gang of my parents’ friends. My brother and I would search for golf balls in the burn and then sell them! When I visited with my kids, it was a viscerally vivid experience of memory. Nothing had changed in 35 years. Sadly the weather was dreadful, pouring with rain, but we put on our raincoats (my Mum stayed in the car) and ran around the grounds while I told them what we would get up to there. Yes, we got soaked, but it was totally worth it. Many of your beautifully expressed posts about childhood and our own children and elderly parents, the importance of memory and the passing of time, resonate so strongly with me. Thank you :)))

Beautifully descriptive as always Jenni, those small details and the lovely photos make such poignant yet comforting reading. xx
